Amazon is one of the largest technology companies in the world. With annual revenues of more than $280 billion, this company continues to dominate its industry. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon as an online bookseller in 1994 in Seattle, Washington. After three years, Amazon became a publicly traded company. As Amazon grew, Bezos added other items to the company’s inventory. These included music, videos, consumer electronics, games, toys and computer software. Amazon expanded to providing web services (AWS) for other companies in 2002. It acquired Whole Foods in 2017. As of 2021, Amazon employs more than 810,000 people in the United States. Services and products available through Amazon include AmazonFresh, Fire TV, Amazon Studios, Alexa, Amazon Prime and the Kindle Store. Its e-commerce store attracts approximately 197 million people a year. Amazon operates in several countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Italy and France.
